Glass Boy

By the glass shard

A river runs through echoes of a ship yard

A boy exhaling life into a fine art

Is a prism casting colour from his glass heart

When she sees him

Her breath catches the glass that stands between them

It shatters in her haste to wipe the pane clean

In the refraction of a crack he disappears again

Ships pass in the night

The white light

Burns into her eyes

But when it starts to fade, she says

Glass boy

Glass boy

Glass boy

I see your world turn

Arcane and fragile

Fragile

Stay here glass boy

'Cause you're a rainbow to my colour-blind eyes

As the girl is looking out onto the grey streets

Where the quiet settles heavy over grey trees

And her life is put on hold to feed her daydream

The sound of glass catches her breath and he appears again

A spectrum of white light

Paints through her eyes

And as a lifetime of grey begins to fade, she says

Glass boy

Glass boy

Glass boy

I see your world turn

Arcane and fragile

Fragile

Stay here glass boy

Cos you're a rainbow to my colour-blind eyes
